Metallica Live In Mexico City | Apple Immersive

Director

Metallica Live in Mexico City | Apple Immersive Metallica's immersive concert film was unlike anything I had worked on before. I was brought in to help bridge the creative vision with the technical execution, on what was, at the time, the most ambitious immersive music production ever attempted. This wasn't a project where technology simply supported the creative. The technology became part of the creative process itself. We spent months testing, experimenting, and placing cameras in positions that had never been attempted before, often balancing engineering with instinct to discover what would create the most emotional connection for the audience. Immersive filmmaking demands restraint. It requires trust, close collaboration with the artists and creative team, and a willingness to let the audience experience a moment rather than force it. That challenge made the process deeply rewarding. One frame from the film remains one of my favorite moments of my career: James Hetfield singing just inches from a fan, their fist raised between them. In that instant, everything disappeared except the connection between artist and audience. It was a powerful reminder of why live music matters, and why we work so hard to capture those moments with honesty.
