Linkin Park | Somewhere I Belong (Live in São Paulo) [Official Video]
A new voice, new music, and a return that meant so much to the band and its fans. São Paulo’s fiercely devoted audience made it the setting for a performance charged with the emotion and possibility of Linkin Park’s next chapter.
Following the launch at Warner Bros. Studios, Southpaw was trusted once again to bring that story to the screen, with Mark Ritchie serving as executive producer and director of the live performance.
The stakes extended beyond capturing a concert. We were simultaneously delivering a live broadcast for Brazilian television, filming for Unshattered, and capturing additional plates for the immersive theatrical experience. With no rehearsals and a show we had never seen in its entirety, every cue and camera choice needed to serve the immediacy of live television and the lasting detail of a theatrical film.
Anamorphic lenses were hand-carried from Los Angeles to secure the look. Remote heads on push dollies brought considered movement into the coverage. Camera placement and timing connected intimate exchanges with the full scale of the crowd, lighting, and stage design. The tools mattered, but the intention behind them mattered more.
Working across languages and local production challenges demanded ingenuity and trust. A dedicated team in São Paulo brought those pieces together, capturing the energy passing between the band and its fans so that audiences in theaters and at home could feel what it was like to be there.
